A Joke

I really like making puns.

So there’s this guy, right? He’s a Catholic missionary. And he’s sent to this strange land by the pope to convert all the natives to, you guessed it, Catholicism. Months pass, and, try as he might, he can’t convert them. So in the letter he sends back to the Vatican, he explains: “All of the natives fervently worship this one mutt they call the ‘holy dog’, which seems to be the soul deity of their quite backwards religion.”

Ba-dum-cshh

D’awww. If these cuties don’t melt your heart, I don’t know what will. Second submission to GatheringMagic (hence the watermarks). I’ll be making some deck boxes soon!

Last in the series. Simple? Yes. I like the way it’s very stark and cut-out without looking amateurish. Even the description is going to be simple on this one.

Today I finished the daunting task of reformatting my iMac’s hard drive. Thank god for Time Machine-it’s as if nothing ever happened to the computer (minus all of the annoying problems the hard drive had due to a half-finished partition).
In other news, I made a token. I plan on making one more, then submitting an article to Adam Styborski of GatheringMagic with them in it… I was thinking a serialized, once-ever-other-day type of article just to brighten up the site would be fun, but we’ll see what he says. You may notice the watermark in the upper-right-hand corner because of this, I’ll take ‘em out if the deal doesn’t go through (capiche?).
This one, by far, has taken the longest. I hand-traced an original illustration by Herge, then messed with it to fit it into the frame.

Friday Night Magic: a success. Played white tokens splashing black and green–with no duals, only Evolving Wilds.

First place.

This Friday I’ll be making at least one spirit, courtesy of Doomed Traveler and friends. Speaking of which, the current standard seems really good for budget deckbuilding. Mono-Black Aggro becomes a real deck with Geralf’s Messenger, and the rest of the deck (unless you’re deciding to play Liliana) is incredibly inexpensive. The deck I’m playing right now (Black-White Tokens) could definitely benefit from Sorin the Landlord, but without it’s a solid list and the only other economic heavy hitters are the lands.
That’s clearly a blog post for another day. In the meantime, enjoy printing this business sized Will Eisner Spirit; business is exactly what he calls for. I originally tried to do some Inkwell Looter-esque stuff, but I can’t mimic his style. Human to come soon (Gather the Townsfolk is pretty sweet).

The token IRL! Looking good, random zombie arm.

Undying is probably the most exciting mechanic (for me) from Dark Ascension. How come the bad guys always get the cool mechanics?
Anyhow, print this baby out and stick it on some cardboard. It looks quite nice on a Strangleroot Geist.
The token is 2” by 1.5”, perfect for covering up some art better than this.
